Courtney Thompson portrait

Courtney Thompson is a passionate singer, songwriter, musician, and music educator based in Melissa, Texas. Born in Amarillo, Texas and raised in the small rural town of Meade, Kansas, she was immersed in music from her earliest years. She began singing almost as soon as she could speak and started playing piano at age six. By fourteen, she was already composing her own original music.

Growing up in the local Church of Christ, with its rich a cappella tradition, honed her vocal abilities and gave her an early mastery of sight-singing. One of eight siblings, Courtney developed a natural warmth and ease in connecting with people from all walks of life. This relatability, combined with her perceptive, intuitive, and empathic nature, allows her to build genuine relationships with students, audiences, and fellow musicians. A storyteller, dreamer, and creative rebel at heart, she is driven by a deep passion for passion itself — bringing grace, charm, and heartfelt expression to everything she does.

Courtney graduated magna cum laude from West Texas A&M University, where she studied music and business. Her professional path includes shadowing audio engineer work at Keep Recording Studio in Denver, Colorado, where she assisted with live shows and recording sessions. She has performed extensively as a vocalist and keyboardist with classic rock cover bands, served as pianist for the Intergenerational Rock Band Choir in Columbia, Missouri for two seasons, and provided music for church services, weddings, funerals, holiday events, and corporate parties. In 2025, she also directed her first musical. Her versatile style and engaging presence allow her to connect with audiences of any generation.

In 2020, Courtney turned her lifelong love of teaching into a full-time vocation. She is the owner and founder of Crash Sweetly Sounds, a music studio in Melissa, Texas. Her teaching philosophy centers on helping students form a genuine emotional connection to music, prioritizing heartfelt expression over technical perfection. She brings the same inviting energy and encouragement to her students that she extends to everyone around her — humans and animals alike.

Deeply inspired by the poetry of Rumi and the timeless artistry of Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Led Zeppelin, Celine Dion, Florence + The Machine, Adele, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Shania Twain, and Aretha Franklin, Courtney continues to write, record, and perform original music that blends soulful storytelling with rich musicality.

When she's not creating or teaching, Courtney enjoys painting, dancing, gardening, playing pool, and spending quality time with her family. Whether on stage, in the studio, or in the classroom, Courtney Thompson brings authenticity, warmth, and artistic depth to every musical endeavor.
